New Travelodge

Following last night at brothers, stayed the night at the Travelodge in Guildford. A new one for us. One of the biggest we’ve stayed in. Nice room over looking the railway line. I know that there is a site which lists good hotels to plane spot from, perhaps I should do one for train spotting.

Keith and Anne

Off to see my brother Keith tonight and his zany wife Anne. Exchange Christmas pressies. I got some racing nuns from him (amongst other things) they are fab… Can see me playing with them lots. Anne's new book ( Pink Champagne and Apple Juice ) is out and she gave us a signed copy. Her books are worth a read so if you are looking for a new author to try, then I do recommend her.

AWOL

Christmas day at home, Sue parents can round and the board game of Who wants to be a millionaire was played. A dispute about one of the questions… What does AWOL stand for. We all said that it was Absent With-Out Leave. Even the dictionaries we have say that, but the card said that it was Absent With-out Official Leave… Never heard of that one…

Home Alone

Tonight was a strange night. I’ve spent the odd night away from Sue but that has always been me being the one away from the house, camping at Kemble, away on a course etc. But tonight it was Sue’s turn to be away. She’s visiting her brothers in Bristol. So the house to myself. Party on! Well not quite. It did feel very strange being at home and not having Sue there, but on the bright side it mean that the TV wasn’t switched on for Richard and Judy.

Sad news, happy news

09:50 received a mail from a friend saying that him and his wife filed for divorce yesterday

Was totally shocked by this. They just seems like a loving couple. Had so many interests in common. I just wasn't aware that anything was the matter. Best wishes to both of them..

13:49 received a mail from my friend Dave. Apparently our joint friend Simon is getting married this Saturday.

Was totally shocked by this. Knew he had a girlfriend by didn't know that he was getting married so soon. Best wishes to both of them..

Maybe I should take more interest in my friends and know more about what's happening in their lives. New Years Resolution #1 perhaps?

Kitchen

Sorry again for the lack of blog. Things have got worse at work. I just want out. I’ve been tempted to just let rip on all the crap that’s been happening but I don’t want to make things worse and I'm trying to act as professional as posible. Hopefully the job market will pick up after New Year. Thing is I’m really kicking myself for letting all this crap happen. I saw it all coming nearly a year ago. I tried my best to avoid it but s**t happens I guess.

On a happier note, Sue’s parents have helped us do up the Kitchen, Hall, Stairs and Landing and they all look fabby. Well when I say they helped us, I think that is a bit of an understatement, they did most of the work. Sue and I did strip the paint of the dresser and stain the resulting bare wood. That took ages, working most nights for a couple of weeks but it was worth it.
