Band Name

On www.43things.com I have list as one of the things I want to do is be in a band. Well the truth is I've been sort of in a band for a while. I joined a few years ago as a guitarist, but found that I wasn't improving on the guitar as much as I want. So quit. Later on I bought a (small) drum kit and became a drummer. It has been hard work but I am getting better. We meet most Wednesdays in a village hall a long way away from any houses so we can make lots of noise. Past few week I've been getting worse with my timing. However something happened last night, maybe its because I've actually practiced between the sessions, but last night it all came together and we ROCKED!!! We were on such a high last night and no drugs were involved.

We also discussed about the most difficult this a band EVER has to do. Choose a name for itself. A while ago Dave came up the name Broadcast, Simon said that he didn't think much of it at first but it grew on him very rapidly. I'm the same. Didn't think it was very exciting at first but its growing on me... What do you think?

Train

The train I catch to work in the morning is usually made up of 5 coaches. I used to sit in the first coach. There was a good band of regulars in there.. Mr Eastlegh FC*,Totton Man**, Laptop Man***, Sarah****, Julian*****, Walkman******, Poisioned Dwarf*******, Pink Man******* etc However recently a guy's been getting on at New Milton who would sit in the centre of the train. He had a very loud booming voice and an even louder laugh. Which disturbed the peace a bit. So I now sit in coach 2. nice and quiet in there. However for a change I sat in coach 4 today, (coach 3 is the guards van and buffet with some but not much seating) It was strange. Tables, with seats down the side I normally sit, with airline style seating down the other. So as well has sitting in a different coach I was sat on the other side of the train to normal. Meant I didn't get a view via of the trains in Southampton Freightliner Terminal or of the River Test and the bird life there. But did get an excellant view of the deer in the New Forest. There is a spot in the forest that I see that dear nearly every morning. There was at least dozen there today, looking lovely in the early morning sun. Will have to go there one morning with the camera.

*on at Eastleigh, gets off at Southampton Central... always reads the Non-league football paper and I've heard hime talking about Eastleigh games with people, so he must be a bit fan.
**already on the train when I get on, stands up as we leave Southampton and stand by the door for 5-10 mins until we get to Totton, where he gets off
***joins the train before I do and leaves after me... sits with his laptop open but doesn't do much on it.... heard he talk to others, think he's a IT consuntant.
*****joins at Southampton, leaves at Bournemouth where she catches the chase work bus. Noticed on her rail pass that her first name starts with a S, so I've nicknamed her Sarah. Hasn't been seen for a month or so.
******Joins at Sway, leaves at Bournemouth, works for the Police.
*******New Milton - Bournemouth, always has his walkman too loud but sits at the other end of the cach to me.
********New Milton - Bournemouth, late middle aged woman, looks evil.
*********New Milton - beyond Bournemouth, wears pink sirts and always has sunglasses. Strange looking bloke

Monday

Been a while since I last blogged, sorry about that dear readers...

Been watching the odd game of football on the TV... Not that many. Thought I'd watch more than I have, but at least watched all the England games.... but I'm not sad enough to have a flag on my car.... I've got a car flag but haven't put it on...

Been busy builing up photos on
Air Britain's Web Site, have a look at some of my pics.... It will increase my 'hits'

Been eating some of the peas wot grew in my garden... they were lovely.... spuds are not far off, couple of strawberries are nearly ripe, but the lettuce has been eaten by slugs.... lets hope the new frogs from the pond eat the slugs before the local cat population eats them.... Having to chase cats out of the garden on a daily basis.... god how much I've grow to hate cats since we bought the house...

More Relatives

I have previous been in touch with someone who shares my surname, but who lives in Australia. We are both researching out family history and met via the excellent genesreunited website. Unfortunately we had nothing to connect me with all the research he had done. That was until yesterday, when I received the my grandfathers birth certificate which I had ordered from the General Records Office. That showed his parents names (ie my grandparents), Great these are on the other guys tree. Suddenly I not only known my great grandparents names, but their parents and their parents and their parents and a whole host of other relatives... Including another Peter who lives down under.

Bristol VR

Boring at work today, as per usual. Did have a fire alarm, cause by some workmen creating too much dust for the sensors. Have got load of stuff to catch up on at home with videos to watch, sort out my photos etc.

Back in the days I used to go bus spotting, my favourite bus was the Bristol VR. Great bus it was but alas they are few and far between now. However with it being raining and me being lazy I decided to bus it up to the station tonight. Imagine my delight when a Wilts and Dorset Bristol VR turned up. Oh the memories. I loved that yourney. Yes it was old and noisy but what a sound it made. Wonderful.

Catch up

We have two phone lines at home. A NTL one and a BT one... the BT one is just used for the internet. Well the BT line has been down since Friday... so the only way to get the internet is to plug into the NTL line, but this means that we have to pay extra for the phone calls. So checking e-mail is all we do, hence no blogs... they had better fix the line today....

Saw a lovely sight in the garden on Saturday.... 8 goldcrest fledglings all in a row on a tree branch being fed by their parents... Will post pics ASAP....

Talking on garden, my peas have gone about a zillion pods growing on them.... so fresh peas to eat very soon I hope.

World Cup has started, watched most of the games so far.... come one England!!!

Popham yesterday plane spotting, wore a t-shirt for the first time in years but it was so hot. Got away with it thanks to generous amounts of sun cream.

Well I think that's all for now...

Pete Meet

Had a bit of a problem. This Saturday England are playing in the world cup... looking forward to the competition. However there was going to be a Pete Meet in Hyde Park on Saturday. When thousands of Pete's were all going to meet up. Trying to break the world record for the number of people all with the same name all being at the same place at the same time. Unfortunately the guy who was organising it didn't get all the permissions needed for the event. Apparently there are lots of permits you need if you want 2,000 odd people to have a meeting in central London. So the Pete Meet has been cancelled... on the up side, it means I can watch the football. Come on England!!!

Spent most of the day at Sue's parents. They had their garage door open and swallows kept flying in and landing on a beam at the top of the garage. Normally Swallows will keep flying nearly 100% of the time, only landing to build nests and have babies. So to see some so close was just brilliant. Took lots of pictures but most of them are rubbish. I hope to have one or two good ones of them.
