In search of Stew

Sue was out with friends tonight at the pictures. However, for tea she's left me some stew..... trouble is identifying it......

Is this stew??

urm.... maybe not

How about this

Well..... maybe.... it is more edible than the last one

Wait a minute, what's this

BINGO!! - good job Sue put that label on it - otherwise I could have been searching all night.....

Guys and Dolls

Ocassionaly there is a programme on TV that you didn’t see, but people chat at work about and you really wish that you had seen it. Well Monday night there was one of these programmes. Channel 5 had a programme called Guys and Dolls. Neal at work saw it and was raving about it all Tuesday. It was about these guys who have rubber dolls. Not the cheap plastic ones you see advertised in the Sunday Sport etc. But full life, realistic rubber dolls costing some £4000 each. They featured 5 guys on there. 4 of them from America and one from Christchurch.... Yes THE Christchurch, the place I pass through each day on the train. Apparently the Christchurch guy is one of the towns taxi drivers. The guys talked about how they can’t get a real woman, so settle for these dolls. They treat they like they were real. They put make up on them, take them out in the car for a drive and pine for them when they go away for their three yearly service. The programme sounded funny and cringeworthy at the same time. Neal phone up Channel 5 about it, they confirmed that they have got the rights to show the programme again, but have no plans to do so at the moment. I’ll let you know if I hear of its going to be on.

Freddie the Fox

Driving back yesterday we stopped off at the Old Winchester Hill Nature Reserve. In the car park was a fox. Just wondering around. We didn’t have any food on us, so we did try to tempt it to come closer with some apples that that fallen off a nearby tree.

‘That’s Freddie’, said a bloke from another car. Who proceeded to pull out a packet of digestive biscuits and started to feed the fox. Apparently, about six months ago he’d come across the fox while picnicking in the area and found the she liked digestive biscuits and has been feeding her every day since then. He’s hoping that she’ll have cubs next summer, that is if the local farmer and keen huntsman doesn’t get her first.

Got some good pics at the Freddie the Fox Gallery

Little Willie

So Sue and I decided to have a pub lunch today and we found this really nice pub near Petersfield. As we approached the door an old lady was coming out, dragging her dog (who we later find out is called Little Willie… she must be an Eastenders fan). The dog didn’t want to move. So she pulled harder. No effect. Now this dog was between me and the beer… There was only one thing for it… My size 12 boots helped the dog out of the way. Now Sue will claim that I kicked the dog. I didn’t. I just placed my boot on its bum and pushed it out of the way… I thought I was helping the old lady…

Beers was good. Had a pint of Stinger, which is a new beer produced from stinging nettles to a recipe by Hugh Fearnley-Whittenshall. Him of River Cottage fame. Quite a nice beer but not much flavour to it. Then a pint of Sussex. Now that’s more like it… A beer with some taste to it…

Pictures

Two e-mails received tonight regarding pictures I have on an aircraft photo web site...

1st

Dear Mr. Olding,

I have just spot your interesting photo of the Gazelle . I wonder would be possible to get (buy) a copy for my collection? Thank you.

Best regards from Croatia,
Stipe Zivaljic

Hi Peter,

I am a section editor on the Milton Keynes Aviation Society Newsletter, and compile the monthly Cranfield & Turweston movement's pages. I was in the tower today at Turweston, (I work there part-time), today looking up the August movements for the next issue when I saw that something called a Barker Charade G-CBUN visited on 29th August. Never having heard of the type before I was doing some research on the Internet tonight and came across your photo of said aircraft landing at Kemble on the ABPIC site, so at least I now know what it looks like! I was a Kemble on the 19th so missed it by a day, I was also at Turweston on 29th but must have been hard at work as I missed there as well! I wonder could I have your permission please to use your photo in the MKAS Newsletter, as I'm sure 90 odd % of our members will not have heard of it either. I'm afraid I can't offer you any recompense other than an honourable mention in our newsletter.

Best Regards,

Roger Syratt

Charlie

There are a few people in this world, who have a major effect on my life in a positive way. My friend Charlie is one of those people. I met him only about seven years ago when he started working in IT alongside me. He re-introduced me to the guitar, I went on to play on stage with him both at my parties and a couple of times in pubs. OK sine then I’ve dropped the guitar and taken up drumming, but I would be in a band or any thing without him. Work wise he’s been an inspiration. OK he got promoted ahead of me which really pissed me off, but that’s not his fault. Overall he’s such a decent chap and has really inspired me. It was great to work with him but alas he’s gone and got himself a job near to my home. Something I’ve been trying hard to do. Last Friday was the last day we worked together. I know we will keep in contact. I really hope we do. But I’ll miss the daily chats with him, the visits to the Norwegian Wood Café in Bournemouth etc. End of an era… or the beginning of a new one??
